Documents for obtaining a commercial certificate

For the issuance of commercial certificates, the following documents must be presented when visiting the registration authority. For more detailed information on the required documents, please refer to the Certification Policy for Commercial Certificates.

Non-entrepreneurial natural person

  • ID card** or passport or similar document of equal legal weight

Entrepreneur, self-employed

  • ID card** or passport or similar document of equal legal weight
  • Proof of existence of the company* (original or certified copy of the trade certificate...)

Employee

  • ID card** or passport, or similar document of equal legal weight
  • proof of existence of the company* (extract from the Commercial Register, trade certificate, certificate from the Czech Statistical Office on registration and assignment of an ID number...)
  • confirmation of employment (the confirmation must be signed by a person with the right to act for the employer concerned; the document must always bear the name, surname and function of the authorised person - the statutory representative); specimen above

If the applicant is not employed by the company and requests that the name of the company be included in his/her commercial certificate, he/she shall prove the relationship with the company by a power of attorney for representation; model above

Acting on behalf of

If the applicant for a certificate is represented by an agent at the I.CA Registration Authority, the above documents must be accompanied by:

  • ID card or passport of the proxy
  • a document proving the right to act as proxy; model above - the signature of the "Proxy" on the power of attorney must be officially certified
  • the original or an officially certified copy of the ID card** or passport of the certificate applicant (proxy); please note that certified copies of personal documents cannot be made in the Czech Republic
  • other documents according to the type of certificate, see above

* The document must not be older than six months; in the case of entities registered in the Commercial Register of the Czech Republic or in the Trade Register, it is not necessary to submit this document (the document is available in electronic form on the website of the Ministry of Justice or the Ministry of Industry and Trade and can be obtained directly from the I.CA registration authority).

** Higher education diploma - the mandatory application item "Full name of applicant" may include the applicant's full name, including degrees, as it appears on the applicant's primary identity document. If the degree is not listed on the primary personal document, a diploma must still be provided indicating that the applicant has the right to use the degree.
